How to create a challenge on powerplatformsolvers.com

In this blog post I am going to write shortly why I created my newest project and how you can create challenges on https://powerplatformsolvers.com/

On Tuesday I made it available to everyone. You can find the LinkedIn post here: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7251994391802773506/

My motivation behind this project is that I think there was something missing in the Power Platform community. Do not understand me wrong. The Power Platform community is great! I just wanted to enhance it a little. This I did by creating a possibility for everyone to create challenges for other people and solve challenges from other people. There are forums and there are also Power Platform challenges. However, Power Platform Solvers is more in my opinion. It is a way to collaborate and improve the skills one has.

I am always interested in learning more and trying new stuff. When I started with the Power Platform I thought about problems and challenges I had in my personal life that I could apply the Power Platform to. This helped me a lot but those were no real use cases. I think if I had something like Power Platform Solvers in the beginning, my progress would have been even faster.

In my opinion, Power Platform Solvers can help beginners but also experts in improving and showing their skills but also enhancing the community in total.

If you want to know more about this or have some ideas for features or improvements, feel free to contact me at hey[at]powerplatformsolvers.com or by providing feedback on the feedback page: https://powerplatformsolvers.com/feedback. This option is only possible if you are logged in.

But how can you create a challenge?

You need to go the Challenges page. You can use the menu buttons in the header or on the home page or can you use the following direct link:

There you will quickly see the "Create Challenge" button.

After clicking the button a pop up will open where you can enter the information of your challenge:

Title should be short but descriptive.

Areas is for the different Power Platform areas, e.g. Canvas Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse etc.

Level is for the difficulty of your challenge. It goes from Beginner to Expert. It depends on you how hard you think your challenge is. It is completely up to your liking.

Deadline defines for how long your challenge is active. While the deadline is not reached, people can submit challenges. After the end of the deadline, you will be informed via email and then you can vote for the best solution.

Description is probably the most important field of the pop up. Here you define the requirements of your challenge. Again, this is totally up to you. I prepared a template for the description that you can use but there is no need. Feel free to be as creative as you want.

The last option is to add any supporting files such as extra images or data tables if those are relevant for the challenge.

Let me know what you think and I hope to see you soon on https://powerplatformsolvers.com/.
